Our EYFS Curriculum
We are proud to follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, which sets the national standard for learning, development and care for children from birth to age five.
The EYFS provides a strong foundation for future learning by supporting children's physical, emotional, social and cognitive development. It is designed to ensure that ever child is given the best possible start in life. Though a combination of child-led play and adult-guided experiences, we aim to help children grow into confident, capable learners and happy, well-rounded individuals.
Areas of Learning & Development
The EYFS curriculum is divided into seven areas of learning and development. These are further grouped into Prime and Specific areas

Communication and Language
Children are supported in developing their listening skills, attention, understanding, and vocabulary through stories, songs, imaginative play and daily conversation.

Literacy
A love for books and early writing begins here. Children explore letter, phonics, storytelling, mark-making, and early reading in meaningful ways.

Physical Development
We provide opportunities for both fine and gross motor development through activities such as climbing, balancing, drawing and sensory play. Self-care and independence are also nurtured.

Mathematics
Children are introduced to numbers, counting, patterns, shapes and measurements through practical, hands-on activities - making learning fun and engaging.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Through routines, group play and positive role modelling, children build confidence, resilience and relationships. We support emotional regulation and a strong sense of self.

Understanding of the World
We help children make sense of their surroundings through exploration, nature, cultural celebrations, and discussions about family, community, and the world.

Expressive Arts and Design
Creativity is encouraged through music, role play, dance, building, and art. Children are given freedom to express their ideas and imagination in many different ways.
Planning with Purpose
Every week, our team creates a thorough, flexible planning documents that covers all seven areas of the EYFS curriculum. This plan is carefully tailored to meet the developmental needs and interests of all children at Denbigh.

We make sure our planning is:
-
Relevant and meaningful - often based on current seasons, cultural events, festivals and what's happening in the wider world
-
Child-centred - drawing on observations of what the children are engaged in or curious about
-
Balanced - offering a mix of adult-led activities and open-ended play opportunities.
-
Inclusive - ensure all children are supported and challenged appropriately, according to their stage of development.
This detailed weekly planning helps us deliver a rich, varied learning experience while allowing flexibility to respond to the children's change in interests and ideas.
